  Christmas Break

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Yes it's nearing Christmas time! Unfortunately we're stuck on Cote d'Azure over Christmas and the New Year, however we hope to make the best of it.
With the success of Operation ESCALATION we hope one more push will be enough to break the URF or at least keep them licking their wounds over the holidays.
We also captured the Airbase meaning our accommodations should be much more enjoyable, I heard something about heating!

Command has authorized an operational break starting December 22nd and ending December 27th and another starting December 31st and ending January 1st. So you better enjoy your break while you have it. Squad training has also been suspended starting December 22nd and ending January 5th. Command wants you guys to know they aren't completely heartless. Assuming the URF play nicely, we hope we'll only have to do patrols from December 27th to January 5th.

We didn't bring a Christmas tree with us. We'll need someone to lead an expedition to locate one for or use. Fortunately there isn't exactly a lack of suitable trees on this planet.

Don't miss the Christmas party on the 25th! Trade some gifts, if you can find any on this planet, have a couple of drinks and enjoy what company you can get!

OOC: Smaller events/altered schedule won the poll so from December 22nd to January 5th we won't have regularly scheduled ops. There will not be training during that period as well. We won't have any mandatory events December 22nd to the 27th and December 31st to January 1st. We will do a few small patrols or other events from December 27th to January 5th. There is also no Christmas party, that's just to add some flavour to our universe.

SSgt. F. Fox:  Good evening everyone, I'm sure many of you are on your heels waiting for this.  Not many of our missions had the luxury of a pre-mission briefing, so I hope you enjoy yourselves.  (Note briefing may be subject to change due to new information)

2nd platoon has done a great job locating Innie scumbags to kill, and they've requested us to run some errands for them while they sit in their field hospital in Cherno.  From 2nd platoon and high altitude air recon, we've noticed URF presence has increased dramatically.  We suspect they've set up supply chains across the planet, or even worse; they might be housing a frigate.  Civilian populations have been rounded up from local colonies and are being transported to unidentified cargo freighters, our first objective is to move in and ambush any travelling Innies transporting civilians before they reach these freighters.  Once we eliminate those threats secure the civilians and return them to the main base.
There are service convoys moving supplies around on the roads, if you see any please feel free to blow them up as our secondary objective.  Our final objective is going to be a tough one, so I hope you all to plan among yourselves for the next 48 hours you have.  We will be assaulting an airbase just south of our FOB.  2nd Platoon was able to identify URF agents transporting a data device, rumor has it this device if activated will reveal the presence of all URF bases across the planet.  That's an extreme advantage we'll receive if we get a hold of it.  The picture below is of the airport, ignore the blank ink.
There are three AA guns that need to be destroyed before any air assets can get near the area.  There are as of now four watchtowers surrounding the perimeter, with active patrols 500m around the spot.  If they are getting reinforcements it will be coming from the south, (left in picture).  We suspect one of the hangers will house the database, be careful, this is going to be dangerous, plan accordingly.
We recently located what seems to be construction plant, as of yet we don't know what it's building but URF troops have been moving in and from it.   It also looks as if there is a Hornet in the picture?  It is just south of the airport, and is somewhat guarded.
Feel free to look over our map, and plan the scenario with your men.

(OOC)  Just letting you guys know we've taken new measures to ensure that from now on missions are tested and approved before an op.  And we also have new login times:  Officer Arrival & Briefing at 7:20, Squad/Element Leader Arrival & Briefing at 7:30, General Pop Arrival & Equipment Check at 7:40, Briefing at 7:50, Start at 8:00.  Also you can thank Martin for our new base extension.

NA: Do you understand the situation on the planet?
NA: I do.
NA: Do you know why we cannot go through with this?
NA: ...No sir.
NA: Hm.  We just received reports from the south, apparently not all attacks were carried out, some of the bombs were not activated.
NA: I heard, though the URF managed to establish a foothold in the south again.
NA: Indeed, however we no longer can afford to waste anymore time here.
NA: What?
NA: They've cracked the jamming codes, and the frigate is entering atmosphere.
NA: Are you sure?
NA: The URF will not last long, considering the heavy losses during the invasion.  Our role here is done, we must destroy any evidence we were here, and turn ourselves in as civilians.
NA: Wait just a minute!  We are abandoning the mission and risking our lives to be captured by the URF?!  Brutal rebels?  They'd kill us.
NA: We aren't going to the URF, we're planting ourselves right in the hands of the UNSC.

SITREP :: 16NOV2017 :: How To Install NEW modpack! (outdated)
Posted by: F. Fox - 11-17-2017, 12:24 AM - No Replies

Awesome news everyone, after hours of researching and testing tons of mods, we have finally created a stable custom unit modpack.  Please thank our captain Marco for doing most of the work on actually creating it.  I'm sorry if your favorite mod is not on there, Sgt. Clark and I did test all the mods everyone asked for and weather or not we added it we had to make it with performance in mind.
Download this modpack AND our new workshop collection, the reason we still have mods on the workshop is because those get updated often.  The whole reason we are doing this is mostly to prevent cheating and exploits, no longer will one person accidentally load the nuke mod before joining our server.  This means the server will be KEYED, so ANY other mod that is not in our list will be blocked, you will have to load Arma 3 with the exact mods everyone else has.  Don't worry we added some really cool stuff.  ShacTac interface is not in the modlist BUT the key for it is allowed so feel free to feel tactical.

Now how to install it:

1.  First make sure ALL your mods are disabled in the Arma 3 launcher

2. Download the modpack here:  http://forums.5meu.org/@5MEU.zip

2. Extract it and place it into your Arma 3 directory steamapps/common/Arma 3
https://i.gyazo.com/c3336c350c6b246246bd...ff1aa8.mp4

3. Download the workshop collection which includes all the mods that are not in the modpack here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi...1131514204
https://gyazo.com/5fd9e29383808f8766c182646bb07ad1

4. Open your Arma 3 launcher
https://gyazo.com/4d2cc226d819a75b601df9c0c0ec1277

5. Enable all the mods from our workshop collection
https://gyazo.com/5b24a366caded95a58f2ba416734a000

6. Now load the 5MEU modpack into the launcher and enable it along with the steam workshop mods

  SITREP :: 09SEPT2523 :: New Beginnings (Again)

A message from Capt. Marco Chiriboga, unit commander.

Hello everyone! Before I go on, I just want to clarify that this isn't an announcement of a new unit. No one's spoken out against me... yet. This is actually the announcement of our official charter

What's included?

Well, you'll find most of our rules and our procedures from here on out in this document. This includes things like how trainings will be handled from here on out, how after action reporting will work, how leaves work,
how promotions work, as well as some much needed guidelines for conduct. Here are the major differences from what we normally do:
  • In lieu of a weekly training where it's iffy that everyone can make it, squad leaders will be given access to the training server and Zeus (for legitimate training purposes only) so they can conduct training at times most suitable for the entirety of their squad. This is gone over in  Article 7, section 2 of the charter, and is being implemented in hopes that it will become possible for squads to better develop and for individuals to get more of the training they need in times that work for them. (Edit: We will still be work shopping things and doing training OPS on Fridays, think of this as more of a compliment than a supplement.)

  • Our attendance policy has been defined as 60% for all U.S Based members, and 40% for non-U.S members. "As the charter states, Abiding by this policy ensures all personnel the ability to stay up to date on current events as well as enjoy quality play without going solo." The charter also states that we 100% understand that real life can get in the way and that real life takes priority over game life.

  • That being said, the charter defines how our leave of absence system will be handled, utilizing a forums based system except in the case of a temporary pass, which can be reported to your direct supervisor and will then be brought up through the appropriate chain of command. We won't deny you a leave of absence, but understand that if you are constantly missing than the viability of your membership may be reconsidered.

  • On the  topic of TeamSpeak courtesies, detailed in  Article 8, Section 4, Paragraph 2... I know I've vocalized being weary of implementing such a thing in the past, however it does serve a useful administrative purpose. My best example is if I were to enter a busy channel with an important announcement, and I'm drowned out in the chaos of 10 men talking, how will I effectively make the announcement? In that, I see the use in implementing something like this.

  • Our discipline policy is clearly defined.

  • And so is our complaints procedure.
I don't want to give you everything, it is a document that every member should be familiar with, and that will be shown to all new recruits coming in, but as you can see this promotes a much more forums based system (that's even a requirement for promotions) and makes use of the chain of command.

Why?

Those of you with us in September will remember that we took a vote for which way this group was going to lean; relaxed, somewhere in the middle, or realism. We voted for realism, and thus this is my way of implementing more professionalism and striking some of the ambiguity as to what we're about. We are a group founded on being friends first, and I will always maintain that is my goal and that I, as well as other staff members, will always be here for you and our other members, but as we grow bigger we must have a developed system to take the weight, and having seen this system work wonderfully first-hand, I really believe that this is the system for what we aim to be. This is the system that the 17th ODST, our brothers in the Battlenet and one of my big inspirations when designing this unit, uses and they've outlasted all the others.

With their permission, I've adapted this to fit our needs, and all members of PERSCOM have agreed that this system would be good for this community. I implore you to take the time to read it and familiarize yourself with it, as I will be holding all members of the unit, including myself, to the standards set by this charter. If staff members aren't upholding the standards, then report it. If I'm not following the standards, speak out against me- I promise I won't ban you.

You will find much more information about the charter in the document itself, so that's enough out of me.

Thank you everyone for playing with us, and here's hoping that doesn't stop for a long time.

Also don't worry, post-mission dancing isn't banned.

Capt. M. Chiriboga, out.
